Wulf Beleites

Wulf Beleites (born April 23, 1947 ; † November 10, 2018 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist, satirist , author and founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Kot & Köter .

life and work

Beleites began his journalistic career in 1969 with the youth magazine guricht . He wrote as a freelance journalist for Ran and Welt der Arbeit . From 1972 to 1975 he was a correspondent for the Berliner Extra-Dienst , for which he reported from Hamburg. He then worked in the newsroom of Stern magazine until 1975 , for which he continued to work as a freelance journalist until 1980, as well as for the Frankfurter Rundschau and the Westfälische Rundschau .

At the Hamburger Morgenpost he was a member of the local editorial team from 1980 to 1985, his focus being on court reporting. It was followed by several years as a writer for print media as well as press officer, 1991/1992 as implementer for the TV magazine police report Germany of Tele 5 . From 1992 to 2004 he worked as a writer and director for the NDR broadcasts DAS! , the satirical magazine extra 3 , the NDR feature editorial team and for the WDR ( monitor , ZAK and private television ).

In the 1990s he appeared as editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Kot & Köter , which did not exist at the time, and was presented as a "dog hater" on TV talk shows. He held a draft title page up to the cameras. The editors didn't care whether the magazine existed or not, he later reported. He finally financed the magazine through crowdfunding , the first issue of which was launched in April 2014. The last edition was published in mid-2016. In 2015 he published Kot & Köter by Ullstein-Verlag . The book for all dog haters , 2017 Followed Always These Mutt! 111 reasons to hate dogs at Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf.

Beleites was politically active, most recently in the party Die Linke . In union terms, he represented the interests of the independent journalists in the IG Druck und Papier , later IG Medien - printing and paper, journalism and art , and the United Service Union (ver.di). For the Deutsche Journalistinnen- und Journalisten-Union (dju) he was a member of the board of directors of the northern district and from 2003 to 2015 the dju federal board, of which he was deputy chairman from 2011. He published articles in trade union bodies such as the magazine M - Menschenmachen Medien , ver.di Publik and Druck + Papier .

Wulf Beleites died in November 2018 after a serious illness at the age of 71.
