The Wunnebad is a public leisure pool in Winnenden , which consists of a combination of indoor pool , outdoor pool , sauna area and ice rink . It is located on the outskirts of Winnenden in the Zipfelbachtal near the Winnenden Clinic .

The Wunnebad was designed by the architect Horst Haag .

Although the local council had decided to name the Zipfelbachtal swimming center , the bath was renamed Wunnebad on a proposal by Jürgen Brauerhoch before it opened .

The topping-out ceremony took place in 1990.

The Wunnebad was opened on June 14, 1991. It was the first leisure pool in the Stuttgart region . The Wunnebad replaces the previous Winnender open-air pool from 1926. The beach volleyball field of the pool was the first of its kind in the Rems-Murr district when it opened .

The ice rink was installed for the first time in the 1998 winter season.

In 2016, the indoor shower facilities were renovated at a total cost of EUR 340,000.

The Wunnebad with a total water surface of over 2,000 m² consists of:

The slide of the Wunnebad is the longest slide in an outdoor swimming pool in the Rems-Murr-Kreis.

The bath was operated by the city of Winnenden until 2014. Since then it has been operated by the municipal utility of the city of Winnenden. The indoor pool and the sauna area are open all year round, the ice rink only in winter. The outdoor pool is completely open in the summer half of the year, in the winter half of the year the 50-meter lap pool has been open since 2008. The Wunnebad is the only pool in the region with an outdoor pool that is open in winter.

Others

The Wunnebad is a competition venue for triathlon events . The Winnender School Triathlon, which is co-organized by the Württemberg Triathlon Association, takes place in the Wunnebad every year. Over 1,400 children and young people regularly take part in this event. This makes it the largest school triathlon in southern Germany.

Swim & Run competitions take place regularly in the Wunnebad . In 2012 and 2016, the state championships in Swim & Run held by the Württemberg Triathlon Association took place here.

The triathletes of VfL Waiblingen use the Wunnebad as a training facility.

The swimming athletes of SV Waiblingen also use the Wunnebad as a training facility.

The Wunnebad is a regular training facility for extreme swimmer Oliver Halder , who also organizes the Lake Constance crossing.

During the rampage in Winnenden , the injured were brought to the Wunnebad and treated there.
