The Wurmtaler Kopf is a mountain of the Kaunergrat , a mountain range of the Ötztal Alps . It lies above the southern end of the Riffltal. The glacier basin of the Rifflferner, which goes up to the Wurmtaler Joch, is located directly below its western ridge . The Offenbacher Höhenweg leads over the 3228 m high mountain, starting from the Rifflsee and into the Taschach valley. There is a bivouac box directly below the summit with the summit cross . There is also an emergency helicopter landing pad on the broad east ridge of the mountain.
Routes
Normal routes:
- From the Rifflsee on the high path through the Riffltal to the moraine slopes. Continue to the beginning of the Rifflferner. First up in the middle towards the ridge, then because of the gaps in the arch towards the yoke. Past the crevasses into the uppermost glacier basin south of the western ridge of the Wurmtaler Kopf. Over the rising block ridge up to the summit.
- From the Taschachhaus on the steep path towards Sexegertenferner to Sexegertenbach. Over the small bridge and along the Offenbacher Höhenweg up to the summit.
