The XOX pastry GmbH is a German company based in Hameln, which was founded in 1908 by Arius Rutgers van der Loeff and H. van Duisberg as a biscuit factory in Gildehaus near Bad Bentheim . Today, XOXäck GmbH is the third largest supplier of snack foods in Germany.

history

The company was founded in 1908 by Arius Rutgers van der Loeff and H. van Duisberg in Gildehaus near Bentheim under the name "Hollandia". The logo and thus the name "XOX" was created from two windmill blades and a grain of grain in the middle. 1910 the company moved to 70 employees after Kleve trowels to and produced XOX- biscuits and XOX- Hopjes .

By 1929 the number of employees rose to 550, in 1939 there were already 1200 employees who produced 5.5 million kilograms of pastries in over 400 different types. After the Second World War , the factory was rebuilt and expanded. In 1955, the factory area was over 28,000 m²; in 1969, around 2600 employees produced biscuits. In 1970 the turnover was approximately 100 million DM. Produced were biscuits, waffles , cheese and savory biscuits , rusks , toffees and candies . Seven years later the plant in Kleve was closed, XOX was bought by the US company Nabisco and production was relocated to Harry Trüller in Celle . Around 450 employees in Kleve lost their jobs and the city lost an important economic factor. In 1987 the company was taken over by the food manufacturer Vogeley, but production stopped. On the XOX site and in the old factory building there are now warehouses and shops as well as a private theater, the XOX-Theater Kleve .

In 1998, the XOX brand was taken over by former Vogeley employee Edmund E. Besecke. He started selling snack items with the company XOXäck GmbH . Five products were brought onto the market with partner companies. The range quickly expanded to 20 products.

In 2005 the headquarters of the warehouse and the insolvent company Snackvision, which was bought in 2004, were relocated from the Netherlands to Hameln . In 2006 the food manufacturer at the Hameln site received certification for the International Food Standard .

The XOX brand now has around 80 different products on offer.
