X is a song by the American rapper Xzibit . The song is the first single from his third studio album Restless and was released on November 28, 2000.

X is the short form of the stage name Xzibit . Above all, the rapper praises himself, his strengths and his success on the song. He raps about women, wealth, power and violence. Even if he is now at the top, he does not forget where he comes from and who stands by him. In the outro, the rapper Snoop Dogg can be heard, who also praises Xzibit.

The song was written by the American music producer Dr. Dre , Mel-Man and Scott Storch produced. The first two also acted as authors alongside Xzibit .

The music video filmed for X was directed by American director Dave Meyers . It has over 40 million views on YouTube (as of July 2020).

At the beginning, Xzibit lands in a helicopter and gets into a stretch limousine with two women. There he raps the first verse as he drives to a property that is hosting a party that also includes Dr. Dre is present. At the party, Xzibit raps the second verse, surrounded by numerous scantily clad women. He is later attacked by three men in the toilet, but teleports himself to the backstage area of ​​his own concert via a device. There he raps the third verse on stage in front of a large audience. Occasionally scenes are shown in which Xzibit played the song in a room between Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg raps. The video also shows the rappers RZA and Method Man .

X entered the German charts at number 31 on February 12, 2001 and four weeks later reached the highest position at number 4. Overall, the song stayed in the top 100 for 16 weeks, including four weeks in the top 10. In the 2001 German annual charts, the single was 59th. X also reached the top 20 in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the Netherlands United Kingdom and Austria.
