Xaver Schleich

Xaver Schleich (born February 19, 1921 in Altenstadt ; † July 12, 2006 ) was a German farmer and politician ( CSU ).

Schleich attended elementary school and agricultural college. After attending school, he joined his parents' farm in Altenstadt. During the Second World War he was a member of the 1st Mountain Division and was a Soviet prisoner of war until 1949. After his release, he returned to work on his farm. At the Bavarian Farmers' Association he was chairman of the Schongau district and from 1972 to 1987 chairman of the Weilheim-Schongau district . He was chairman of the board of the Futtertrocknung Altenstadt, chairman of the Schongau farm workers committee and he was also a member of the board of the cattle recycling company. In addition, he was the second member of the board of directors of the Oberland machinery and operational aid group and for 52 years he was secretary of the Altenstadt veterans' association.

Schleich belonged to the local council of Altenstadt and the district council for several decades. In 1978 he was also for three months a member of the Bavarian Parliament , as substitutes for the Lord Mayor of Munich elected Erich Kiesl . For his services he received the ring of honor of the Altenstadt community. The father of five children died in 2006 from serious injuries sustained in a bicycle accident.
