Xiangzhong Yang

Xiangzhong Yang (also "Jerry" Yang; * 1959 in China as 杨 向 中 , Yáng Xiàngzhōng ; † February 5, 2009 in Boston ) was an American stem cell researcher .

Yang grew up in China and was able to continue his studies in the United States due to his outstanding achievements at the University of Beijing. First he worked on cloning experiments at Cornell University in New York , and since 1996 at the University of Connecticut .

In 1999, he managed to clone the first calf in the United States . He was considered the leading stem cell researcher in the United States. In 2009 Yang succumbed to four years of cancer. Due to illness, he was unable to continue his controversial studies on human embryos .
