biography
Kowalczyk spent his childhood in Warsaw , Poland. He had a lot to do with 1980s music, especially funk and soul, due to the fact that his parents were both professional musicians. While his mother was a conductor, violinist and pianist, his father was a drummer and singer in various bands. Xilent began producing tracks at the age of eight after being introduced to the Propellerhead Rebirth RB-338 synthesizer set. At that time his songs were more of a mixture of house and acid techno and therefore not to be assigned to a direct genre, but then got tendencies towards breakbeat until he finally found drum & bass. During this time he also played drums in some hardcore punk bands like Fast Forward. When he received the compilation "Future Grooves - Essential Drum & Bass" in 1999, he heard music with more than 150 BPM for the first time and immediately took a liking to this music.
Many of his digital releases before his breakthrough hit the TrackItDown Drum & Bass charts . His song Terminal was referred to by TrackItDown as "Drum & Bass Anthem" ("Drum - & - Bass anthem").
Xilent spent the next 3 years of his life in Edinburgh, Scotland, studying software development. There he signed contracts with several internationally known labels such as Beta Recordings, Ammunition Recordings, Mindtech Recordings and others, while performing as a DJ in Europe and supporting musicians like Spor . In December 2009 Eryk made his first appearance in his home country Poland.
In 2011, Xilent was signed to the independent label AudioPorn Records, owned by Shimon, one of the co-founders of Ram Records. That year he released his EPs Choose Me and Skyward . Furthermore, the singles Evolutions Per Minute // Tenkai and Clear Your Mind followed in the same year .
His EP Ultrafunk was released in May 2012 . "Touch Sound" followed in the autumn of the same year.
