Xin Pu Dong class , sometimes short Xin class is the name of a series of Panamax - Container motor ships of the type SDARI 5700 the Chinese shipping company China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL). When they were built, they were the largest container ships ever built in China.

The series was designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute, where it was named SDARI 5700. The construction contracts were placed in June 2000. In total, the series of this type of ship built between 2003 and 2004 by the two Chinese shipyards New Dalian Shipyard in Dalian and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai initially comprised 7 units. In 2005 the Hudong shipyard delivered two more ships based on a slightly more advanced design. The construction price of the ships was around US $ 58 million per unit. The series is classified by the China Classification Society with: ★ CSA Container Ship Ice Class B; Loading Computer SI; ★ CSM AUT-0; PMS; SCM ;. The harness-less ships have seven holds with fifteen hatches. The holds are equipped with cell guides, the hatches are closed with pontoon hatch covers. Of the maximum 5668 TEU that can be loaded , 2586 TEU can be stowed in the hold and 3082 TEU on deck. The ships are used on routes between Asia and Europe.

A high level of property damage occurred on the Xin Qing Dao when she encountered bad weather with winds of up to 11 Beaufort on a voyage from Valletta , Malta to Felixstowe on October 27, 2004 off Brittany . High seas and roll angles of up to 30 degrees caused 31 loaded 40-foot containers to go overboard. Another 29 were damaged. The individual container contents were valued at between US $ 20,000 and over US $ 1 million.
