Xonia (real name Loredana Sachelaru ; born June 25, 1989 in Melbourne , Australia ) is a Romanian singer , songwriter, actress and dancer who grew up in Australia.

Life

In 1997, Xonia showed an interest in music and was signed to a local music label with a record deal in early 2003 . During her youth she worked with several music producers including Rob Davis , Doug Brady and Kevin Colbert to record her debut album . At the same time she graduated from the Australian Ballet School (Certificate III in Dance) under the supervision of the choreographer and dance teacher Robert Sturrock.

She focused on acting in the early 2000s after getting a number of cameos on television series such as Noah's Arc , SeaChange , Holly Heroes and Neighbors .

In 2006 she was selected to take part in the international Miss Diaspora beauty pageant. She performed in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games and was selected to dance with guest star Nathan Brown . In 2007 she showed her choreography skills with pop singer Georgina Ward for her live shows. Eventually she was featured as a backup dancer in several music videos produced by Ian Smith and Laura Gissara. At the age of 19, she enrolled at the Pop Academy in Hollywood, where she briefly studied dance and music theory.

In the spring of 2008 she started a tour in the United States, where she sang at several events for the Romanian diaspora.

She then spent some time in New York City recording her music. While living in America, she received an invitation to participate as a jury member in the annual Miss Diaspora Contest . In the same year she performed at the Callatis Festival . Shortly thereafter, she received an award for her musical endeavors and was signed by Star Management Romania . Her debut single "Someone to You Love" was released in late 2009. In the same year she was selected to represent Australia at the international music festival Goldener Hirsch , where she sang two songs: "Dirty Dancer" and "Trandafir de la Moldova" . During the competition, the representatives from Romania offered her a management contract.

In spring 2010 she presented her new single "Take the Lead". In spring 2010 she worked with the Romanian pop band Deepcentral for their new single "My Beautiful One". Xonia has been working on her debut album with Romanian music producers Marius Moga, George Hora, Mihai Orgășanu and Deepcentral since 2015.
