Yılmaz Özen (born August 21, 1973 in Bolu ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Özen played for the reserve team of his home club Boluspor until 1991 . He then received a professional contract here in 1991, but continued to play for the reserve team after participating in pre-season preparatory camps. For the 1992 season he was again included in the professional squad and completed a second division game for Boluspor in the first few weeks of the season. For the rest of the season he was loaned to Mudurnuspor . For this club Özen came to 17 league appearances by the end of the season. For the new season he returned to Boluspor, but was almost exclusively on the bench for the following season. For the new season Boluspor awarded Özen again to Mudurnuspor.

In the summer of 1995 Özen left Boluspor and moved to the third division Marmarisspor . Here he quickly established himself as a regular player and completed 22 league games by the end of the season. In the third division season 1996/97 he reached with his team the third division championship and thus promotion to the 2nd Futbol Ligi .

After promotion to the 2nd division, Özen played another season for Marmarisspor and moved to league rivals Büyükşehir Belediye Ankaraspor in the summer of 1999 . For Ankaraspor he played for the next four seasons. He then played for the third and fourth division clubs Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK , Kırşehirspor , Çankırı Belediyespor and Afyonkarahisarspor and ended his career in the summer of 2007.

Coaching career

From summer 2008 Özen started to work as a youth coach at his home club Boluspor and was active in this function until spring 2014. In April 2014, he was introduced as the head coach of the professional team and succeeded the retired Engin Korukır . After he had looked after the team on an interim basis until the end of the season, he returned to his previous position.
