Yū Miyahara
Yū Miyahara ( Japanese 宮 原 優 , Miyahara Yū ; born April 27, 1994 ) is a Japanese wrestler . She became a 2010 youth Olympic champion and is a multiple junior world champion.
Career
Yū Miyahara began wrestling as a child. She is now attending the Abe Gakuin High School in Tokyo and is also starting for the school's sports club.
In July 2010 she was first Asian junior champion (age group Cadets) in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight in Bangkok. A month later she was also a youth Olympic champion in Singapore in the same weight class. In the final, she defeated Julia Leorda from Moldova. In 2011 she was also Junior World Champion (Cadets) in the weight class up to 49 kg in Szombathely, where she again defeated Julia Leorda in the final. In December 2011, at the age of 17, she was Japanese champion in the women in the weight class up to 51 kg before Hikari Sugawara .
In February 2012 Yu Miyahara took 2nd place at the Asian Championships in Gumi / South Korea in the weight class up to 51 kg behind Li Hai (wrestler) from China and in May 2012 she was Asian junior champion in Almaty in the same weight class before Erchembajaryn Dawaatschimeg , Mongolia. In the same month she finished 2nd at the World Cup in Tokyo behind Dawaasüchiin Otgontsetseg , Mongolia, ahead of Zhao Sasha , China and Alena Aladschinskaja, Russia. In the Japanese women's championship in 2012, she came in second because she lost to Hikari Sugawara just 1: 2 rounds that year.
In February 2013 she proved at the Golden Grand Prix in Klippan that she can be expected in the future at the international championships for women, because she won there in the weight class up to 51 kg ahead of Yekaterina Sergejewna Krasnowa , Russia, Jessica Medina and Hayley Medina , both USA. In August 2013 Yu Miyahara became Junior World Champion for the second time after 2011 in Sofia. It was then used in September 2013 at the Women's World Cup in Budapest. She won there in the weight class up to 51 kg, first over Aguis Rivas Gonzalez, Venezuela, but lost her second fight against the reigning world champion Jessica MacDonald from Canada. But since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and only came in 9th place.
As of January 1, 2014, the International Wrestling Association (FILA) abolished the weight class up to 51 kg in the women's category. Therefore, Yu Miyahara decided to start in the weight class up to 48 kg from this point in time, which of course leads to increased training. At the Junior World Championships in Zagreb in August 2014, she started in this weight class and won the title again with victories over Silje Kippernes, Norway, Milana Dadaschewa, Russia, Evin Demirhan, Turkey and Ya Xie, Chine.
In January 2015 Yū Miyahara took 3rd place at the "Ivan-Yarigin" Memorial in Krasnoyarsk in the 48 kg class behind the two Russians Valentina Islamowa-Brik and Elena Wostrikowa. In March 2015 she was at the Nations World Cup in St. Petersburg in the same weight class in the Japanese team that won this cup. There she lost her first fight against Maria Stadnik from Azerbaijan , but then defeated Iwona Matkowska from Poland, Victoria Anthony from the United States and Nadezhda Fedorowa from Russia.
After that, she had to take a long break from injury, which also cost her a possible participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Only in November 2017 did she make a comeback on the international wrestling mat. She won the "Dave Schultz" memorial in Colorado Springs in the weight class up to 53 kg in front of Sarah Hildebrand and Whitney Conder , both from the United States. In December 2017, she finished 2nd in the Japanese championship in the weight class up to 53 kg behind Haruna Okuno and ahead of Kana Higashikawa and Yuko Yago.
