Yūji Hirayama
Yūji Hirayama ( Japanese 平 山 ユ ー ジ , Hirayama Yūji ; born February 23, 1969 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese sport climber .
On October 12, 2008, he and Hans Florine needed 2 hours, 37 minutes and 5 seconds to climb the route The Nose on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park . This record was set on November 6, 2010 by Sean Leary and Dean Potter with a time of 2 hours, 36 minutes and 45 seconds.
Yuji is the first Asian climber to win the climbing world cup . He was also the first climber in the world who could climb an 8c route (“White Zombie”) on sight .
