Yūsuke Amano ( Japanese 天野 祐 介 , Amano Yūsuke ; * 1981 ) is a Japanese game developer .
Act
When the video game Super Mario Bros. came out in Japan in 1985, Amano was four years old. Since Nintendo , the company behind the game, played a big role in his childhood, he applied to Nintendo after graduating. The company adopted Amano and assigned him to the Mario Club internal debugging team . The first game with Amano's participation was Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 , released in 2003 , to whose development Amano joined late as a debugger. Additional content was later developed for the game, on which Amano collaborated.
Amano then acted as a debugger for several other Nintendo games. In 2006 Amano was assigned to the development department of Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development (EAD) as a game designer . He worked under producer Hiroyuki Kimura for the fourth group of the EAD. His first game developed for the EAD was Big Brain Academy : Wii Degree , in which he was involved as Assistant Director, i.e. as co-development manager. The next game in the group was New Super Mario Bros. Wii , for which Amano was one of the game designers. Immediately thereafter, work began on Star Fox 64 3D , which EAD developed together with Q-Games . Amano, who had previously shown interest in a Star Fox game, coordinated the work between the two studios.
At this time, the Nintendo chief producer Takashi Tezuka organized the "Mario Paukschule", in which young employees of the EAD were taught the basics of level design of a Super Mario game. Amano was one of the participants, and due to his senior involvement with New Super Mario Bros. Wii , he was named director of a new 2D Super Mario game. In 2012 this game was released as New Super Mario Bros. 2 .
