Ja'akov Peri

Ja'akov Peri ( Hebrew יעקב פרי, English transcription Ya'akov Peri; * February 20, 1944 in Tel Aviv ) was head of the Israeli domestic secret service Shin Bet and a former politician of Yesh Atid from 1988 to 1995 .

Life

After completing military service, Peri attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University .

Since 1966 he worked at the Schin Bet and was its boss from 1988 to 1995. In 1994 he graduated from Harvard Business School with a degree in business management . That is why he was represented by Karmi Gilon as head of the Schin Bet for four months in 1994 .

From 2013 to 2014 he was Minister for Science, Technology and Space .

On February 7, 2018, he gave up his mandate in the Knesset , which he had held since 2013. For him moved Pnina Tamano-Schata after.

In 2012 documentary released Kill first (English: The Gatekeepers ) of the Israeli filmmaker Dror Moreh is Peri one of the six interviewees who give to their respective activities with Shin Bet information.
