Yan Guowei (* in the 20th century in China ) is a Chinese lecturer for traditional Chinese music at the Central Music Academy in Beijing and an award-winning Erhu player.

Life

Yan Guowei received music lessons as a child at the age of 9 from Yu Hongmei , an erhu player and professor in the department of traditional Chinese music at the Central Music Academy in Beijing, who continued to take care of him in 2016.

In 2001, Yan Guowei was accepted into the fifth grade in the elementary school affiliated with the Central Music Academy. She then studied there up to her master’s degree in September 2015 and then started as a lecturer at the same university. There she currently teaches in the department for traditional Chinese music and is a member of the orchestra and chamber music group .

Guowei is also a member of the board of the Association for Traditional Chinese Music , where he is responsible for the Huqin department , a subfamily of Asian stringed instruments .

In honor of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz , Yan Guowei (Erhu) played together with Udo Grimm on the 300th anniversary of the death of the universal genius on November 14, 2016 in the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche in Hanover , also the burial place of Leibniz, in the presence of the French composer Frédéric Durieux the world premiere of Durieux 'Duett Longue Distance , a commission for the international composition competition Leibniz' Harmonien 2016 .

Awards

In the course of her young career, Yan Guowei has won all major competitions for traditional Chinese music in the Erhu discipline . In addition, she won, for example

  • held a traditional Chinese music competition in the capital of the Republic of China
  • and the CCTV television award from China Central Television (CCTV). The Chinese state television named Guowei as one of the ten best young erhu players.
