Yannick Ayrton Franke (born May 21,  1996 in Haarlem , the Netherlands ) is a Dutch basketball player .

career

Franke played in the youth of the Harlemlakers Amsterdam. In autumn 2013 he made his debut in the top division of the Netherlands at Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden and in December 2013 moved within the league to Challenge Sports Rotterdam.

In the 2014/15 season, Franke led the basket hunter list of the first Dutch league with an average of 19.6 points per match, was initially in the service of Donar Groningen in the following year , before he accepted an offer abroad for the first time in March 2016 and joined the Finnish first division club Bisons Loimaa changed. There the Dutchman scored 7.5 points per use.

In September 2016, he signed a three-year contract with the Greek first division promoted Promitheas Patras BC , but left the team shortly afterwards. In mid-October 2016 he was presented as a new addition by the top Greek team AEK Athens . This agreement was also dissolved a little later, Franke was not used for AEK, in January 2017 the Dutchman moved to KK Zadar in Croatia . In the Croatian league he made six appearances (7.2 points / game), in the Adriatic basketball league Franke was on the field in seven games for Zadar and scored an average of 5.9 points per match.

In the 2017/18 season, the Dutchman was under contract with Dolomiti Energia Trentino in the Italian Serie A and recorded 3.7 points per mission in 37 games. Franke also took part in the European club competition Eurocup with the team (14 games: 6.3 points on average).

Franke continued his career in Lithuania and strengthened the first division side Pieno žvaigždės in the 2018/19 season , for whom he scored 14 points per match in 31 league appearances. During the summer break of 2019, the Dutchman moved to Germany and signed a contract with the Bundesliga newcomer Hamburg Towers . The Hamburg coach Michael Taylor had become aware of Franke when he played in his role as Polish national coach in an international match against the Netherlands. In the Bundesliga, Franke scored an average of 13.2 points for Hamburg in 20 games. In August 2020 he was signed by the French second division club SLUC Nancy Basket .

family

Franke comes from a basketball family. Father Rolf was an eight-time Dutch basketball champion in the 1990s, played 60 international matches and has been the trainer of ZZ Leiden since 2018 . Grandfather Wim was one of the best basketball players in the country in the 1960s and made 47 international appearances.
