Yasuo Tanaka (astronomer)
Yasuo Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 靖 郎 , Tanaka Yasuo ; * March 18, 1931 - January 18, 2018 ) was a Japanese astronomer who decisively shaped the Japanese program for X-ray astronomy with missions such as ASCA .
Yasuo Tanaka studied at Osaka University . In 1974 he became a professor at the University of Tokyo and in 1981 at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). He was also a visiting scientist and external scientific member at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics .
