Yawovi Agboyibo

Yawovi Agboyibo (born December 31, 1943 in Kouvé , Yoto prefecture , † May 30, 2020 in France ) was Prime Minister of Togo from September 2006 to December 2007 . Agboyibo was chairman of the Comité d'Action pour le Renouveau (CAR) party.

Agboyibo was born in 1943 in Kouvé, Yoto Prefecture. After finishing school, Agboyibo studied and became a lawyer. In this capacity he was involved in human rights issues, among other things . From 1985 to 1991 he was a member of the Togolese parliament as an independent candidate. In 1992 he joined the CAR party. On September 16, 2006, after the parliamentary elections, he became Prime Minister in Togo. In the parliamentary elections of October 2007, Agboyibo won again a seat as a member of parliament. However, the elections did not result in a majority for his government and he resigned on November 13, 2007. On December 3, 2007, Komlan Mally was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
