Yolanda Be Cool is an Australian band consisting of the duo Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson. Together with producer DCUP (Duncan MacLennan), also from Australia, they released the international dance hit We No Speak Americano in 2010 . The band name is likely derived from the ending scene in the film Pulp Fiction , in which Yolanda (also called Honeybunny) is told by Jules to stay cool.

We No Speak Americano

The piece is based on the Neapolitan song Tu vuò fà l'americano (You want to play the American) by Renato Carosone from 1956. It became internationally known for the film It Began in Naples (1960), in which it was sung by Sophia Loren becomes. It was later used again in the film The Talented Mr. Ripley . Recent use of found it in 2010 in the film The American by Anton Corbijn .

A characteristic feature of We No Speak Americano is the fourth jump from B to F and back. This is partially varied, but always used in the refrain.

The song reached number one in the German , Austrian , Swiss , Danish , Dutch and Swedish charts and reached the top five in Australia, Spain, Bulgaria and Norway. It was also in the charts in Italy, Belgium and New Zealand.
