Yoshi's New Iceland is a Jump 'n' Run - video game for the Nintendo 3DS . The game is the sequel to Yoshi's Island DS and thus a sequel to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island . It was released on March 14, 2014 in North America and Europe . The game is based on the design of its predecessors and thus appears in an oil and water-colored appearance. The gameplay is focused on Yoshi , who has to bring the well-known video game hero Super Mario to his parents when he is a child and eats opponents to produce eggs that serve as projectiles.

Gameplay

The gameplay is exactly the same as its predecessors except for a few changes. A novelty are the "mega-eggs", which are larger than normal eggs and can destroy larger obstacles such as pipes or blocks. Another novelty are the "metal eggs". Like the mega eggs, these can clear the way, but cannot be thrown, only rolled. In addition, if Yoshi has a metal egg with him, he can walk on the sea floor.

development

Yoshi's New Island was developed by Arzest , which was founded by developers of the predecessor. Masahide Kobayashi directed work on the game and Nintendo's Takashi Tezuka was the producer.

The game was introduced in April 2013 in a Nintendo Direct presentation. The official name was revealed at E3 2013 , parallel to the release of a trailer .

marketing

On the day it was released, a Yoshi-style Nintendo 3DS was released. However, the game is not included on the system.

rating

The reviews of the game were rather negative. An average rating of 64 was determined on Metacritics. For comparison: The first part is rated with an average of 91.
