Youhanna Fouad El-Hage

Youhanna Fouad El-Hage (born March 13, 1939 in Zahlé , Lebanon , † May 3, 2005 ) was a Lebanese bishop .

He was ordained a priest on March 17, 1968 . He studied in Rome , the USA and Beirut . On June 7, 1997 he was appointed Maronite Archbishop of Tripoli in northern Lebanon . The episcopal consecration took place on November 1, 1997.

In Lebanon he was popular as the “Bishop of the Poor” with Christians and Muslims alike.
