Yttrium iodide is an inorganic chemical compound of yttrium from the group of iodides .
Extraction and presentation
Yttrium iodide can be obtained by reacting yttrium with iodine .
It can also be obtained by reacting yttrium oxide or yttrium hydroxide with hydriodic acid.
properties
Yttrium iodide is a light gray to yellowish flaky solid that is soluble in water. It has a trigonal crystal system corresponding to that of bismuth triiodide with the space group R 3 (space group no. 148) and the lattice constants a = 7.4864 Å and c = 20.880 Å. It also occurs as a tri- and hexahydrate.
