Yucca campestris (English common name : Plains Yucca) is a species of palm lily ( Yucca ) in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).

Yucca campestris grows solitary, without trunks or with trunks 0.5 to 1 meter high, or in groups. The flexible, pliable, finely fibrous, green to blue-green leaves are up to 65 cm long and up to 0.6 cm wide. They are similar to those of Yucca elata and Yucca glauca .
The inflorescence , which begins in the leaves, protrudes beyond the leaves and is 0.5 to 1.5 meters high. The bell-shaped flowers are 4 to 6 cm long and 1.5 to 2 cm wide. The six equal-faceted bloom are white or green, sometimes the outer pink. The flowering period extends from May to June.
Occurrence
Yucca campestris is endemic to the Chihuahua Desert on sand dunes in the state of Texas , near the Peco River at altitudes between 200 and 700 meters. This species often grows in association with various types of cacti .
Yucca campestris is frost hardy to minus 18 ° C in Central Europe with protection in the winter months . It is rare in collections.
