Yucca whipplei subsp. eremica (English common name : "San Rafael Mountains Yucca") is a subspecies of the plant species Yucca whipplei in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).
description
Yucca whipplei subsp. eremica grows individually or in small pads with strongly developed rosettes. The stiff, flexible, wide, serrated, blue leaves are 20 to 40 cm long and 2 to 4 cm wide. The sword-shaped leaves are typical.
The branched inflorescence is 1.5 to 2.5 meters high. The bell-shaped, cream-colored flowers are 1 to 3 cm long and 1 to 2 cm wide. The outer petals are sometimes purple in color. The flowering period extends from April to May. They are rare in the collections in Europe.
distribution
Yucca whipplei subsp. eremica is endemic to Mexico in the state of Baja California in plains or flat, rocky hills at altitudes of 300 to 750 m. It grows in association with various types of succulents.

The description by Carl Clawson Epling and Adelbert Lee Haines under the name Yucca whipplei subsp. eremica was published in 1957
