Yusuke Watanuki ( Japanese 綿 貫 裕 介 Watanuki Yūsuke ; born May 20, 1990 in Kasukabe , Saitama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese tennis player .

Career

Yusuke Watanuki mainly played on the second and third class ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Future Tour . So far, he has won two singles and three doubles on the Future Tour.

In 2017 Watanuki made his Grand Slam debut in the mixed competition at Wimbledon . Together with his partner Makoto Ninomiya , he was able to win his opening match against the duo Dmitri Tursunow and Darja Gavrilowa in three sets. In the second round, however, he had to admit defeat to number 4 seeded doubles specialists Ivan Dodig and Sania Mirza . After a few more future tournaments, he hasn't played any matches since September 2017.

Private

Watanuki has two younger brothers who are also tennis professionals. His youngest brother Yosuke already played in doubles in Tokyo . All of them played in Toyota for the first time in the same tournament.
