Yves Christians

Yves Christen (born July 13, 1941 in Bern ; resident in Langnau im Emmental and Cortaillod ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ). In 2002/03 he was President of the National Council .

Christian's family comes from French-speaking Switzerland and therefore French was spoken at home. After completing his school education at the École française in Bern and the Collège Saint-Michel in Friborg , he then studied civil engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (Ing. Civ. EPFZ).

In 1977 he was appointed to the council of Vevey selected. Already four years later (1981) he succeeded in joining the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud . After another four years he was appointed to the city ​​council of Vevey and after another four years was city president until 2001. In the 1995 elections he moved into the National Council and was President of the National Council in 2002/03 . On December 3, 2006, he resigned from the National Council.

Christian is married and has two children. He lives in Vevey.
