Yves Studer (* 28 August 1982 in Friborg ) is a Swiss boxer in the middleweight division.

Life

Studer grew up as an only child speaking German. He made his first boxing attempts at the age of eight. Albert Brönimann from the Gibstorf boxing school was his first trainer. After an unsuccessful cookery apprenticeship in Murten , he moved to Spreitenbach and turned intensively to boxing.

Amateur career

During his amateur career he boxed for the boxing school Gebenstorf . In his first amateur fight on October 25, 1991 against Ramias Meier from the boxing club Winterthur Studer reached a draw. In the course of his boxing career, he met this opponent twice. On March 11, 1994 Studer was in a fight against Sergio Cosimo over three rounds, winner on points. He became a student master in paper weight .

In April 1997 Studer had a traffic accident in which he suffered several fractures and thus questioned the further course of his career. He had his comeback on May 29, 1998 in a fight against Swiss champion Reto Morini, the fight ended in a draw. On March 5, 2000 Studer won the fight against Vizar Himaj on points and became Swiss champion. In the same year he faced Himaj again and won early. He was now also regional champion.

In 2001 Yves Studer moved to the senior camp. At the 10th International Chemnitz Tournament he lost to Dejan Zavec from Slovenia in the final . He switched to the welterweight division and became German-Ticino champion in this weight class.

In 2002 he fought for the title of Swiss welterweight champion against Yannick Karawa and the title of regional champion in the fight against Toma Engil. At the European Championships in 2002 he was eliminated in the first round against Damien Bertu.

In 2003, Yves Studer met Roberto Belge in the final of the Swiss championships, to whom he lost with 5: 4 points. At the end of 2003, his trainer and Yves Studer ended the collaboration and the move to the professional camp was completed.

Yves Studer played a total of 105 amateur fights.

Professional career

In 2004, Yves Studer signed a professional contract with the Bernese professional boxing stable "Boxingkings". According to Swissboxing, Bruno Arati, who was also a professional boxer, became the trainer.

Yves Studer played his first professional fight on December 26, 2004 against Maksym Vqshqnskyy. He won the fight clearly on points. Yves Studer then fought against several opponents. On September 24, 2005 he boxed against his first undefeated opponent from Koblenz, Ivan Schtscheglow; Studer won on points. After further development struggles, the Bernese elector fought for the External Eu middleweight title against Vedran Akrap on December 26, 2008 in Bern's Kursaal. Akrap was taken out of the fight by the referee in the eleventh round.

In a rematch against the French Gabriel Lecrosnier in the Casino of Montreux, against because he won by TKO in the 5 round on March 14, 2009, he defended his title on May 22, 2009 in Bern. Yves Studer clearly won the argument on points. On December 26th, 2009 he defended his EBU-EE title against Andrei Salahutdzinau. In the last title defense against Shalva Jomardashvili on May 29, 2010 the fight ended in a draw, Studer thus retained his title.

On November 2, 2010, the management of Yves Studer announced that he will drop his title and box for the middleweight title of the "International Boxing Council". His opponent was the Brazilian Samir Dos Santos Barbosa (24-6-3). Studer defeated Barbosa on points 117: 111, 116: 111 and 115: 112.

Studer announced his resignation with immediate effect at the beginning of May 2012. He resigned due to an elbow injury that had not healed and out of frustration at the IBF World Championship fight against Daniel Geale that had not materialized .
