Yves Velan

Yves Velan (born August 29, 1925 in Saint-Quentin , France , † May 6, 2017 in La Chaux-de-Fonds , Switzerland ) was a French-speaking Swiss writer .

Life

Yves Velan, born in France as the son of a Swiss and a French woman, worked as a high school teacher after completing his studies at the University of Lausanne . In the canton of Vaud , he was banned from working because of his membership in the Parti ouvrier et populaire (POP) , whereupon he moved to a high school in La Chaux-de-Fonds . He taught French literature at the University of Florence and later at the University of Illinois .

Velan already had success with his first novel in 1959. In 1990 he was awarded the Grand Prix CF Ramuz for his complete work. He was one of the founders of the Olten Group .
