Yvonne Ploetz (born September 28, 1984 in Saarbrücken ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 2010 to 2013 .

Origin and education

After completing secondary school at the comprehensive school in Gersheim and then graduating from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium in Zweibrücken in 2004 , she studied political science , art history and sociology at the University of Trier as a scholarship holder of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation . This was followed by a master’s degree from 2010 to 2011. In doing so, she acquired the additional certificate "East Asian Studies". She speaks German, English, French and Chinese.

Political party

Ploetz was a member of the Junge Union from 1998 to 2002 . In 2005 she joined the PDS and in November 2005 founded the local association Die Linke. Blieskastel , of which she has been chairman ever since. From 2006 to 2008 she was the education policy spokeswoman in the state executive committee Die Linke. Saar . Since 2008 she has been a board member of the Saarpfalz district association. From October 2010 to mid-2012 she was a member of the regional board of the Linksjugend Saar. Ploetz, who is known as “confidante” of Oskar Lafontaines, failed in the fight for the top candidate (state list) for the Saarland Left Party in the 2013 Bundestag election , stood as a direct candidate in the Homburg constituency and left the Bundestag after the election.

Bundestag

Ploetz moved up on February 1, 2010 for Oskar Lafontaine in the German Bundestag due to her third place in the state list . She was a full member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and a deputy member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment . As a member of the Bundestag, she was primarily involved in domestic politics. Her focus was on youth, women's education and poverty policy. She criticized the concept of the “ Green New Deal ”, which she regards as too technocratic.

Private

In 2008, Ploetz became judo champion in the Saarland in the class up to 70 kilograms and played soccer for SG Parr Medelsheim for several years. She is a member of IG Metall, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the Trier Political Science Alumni Association and the Peter Imandt Society. She has been running a restaurant in Blieskastel since 2013 .
