The Helmholtz-Gymnasium (HHG) Zweibrücken is a high school in the Palatinate city of Zweibrücken . It is named after the physicist Hermann von Helmholtz . The focus is on mathematical and natural science subjects.
Working groups
An astronomy work group, a sanitation work group and a theater work group are offered annually as working groups, which are supervised by teachers. In addition, many sporting groups, such as B. basketball and volleyball are offered, some of which are also supervised by high school students. In addition, the school has its own chess team, which does very well at the annual school chess championships at state level. In 2004 the school newspaper AG was founded. The newspaper called "Unzensiert" has been published every six months since then, mostly with a title topic, and has already won numerous prizes, including 1st prize in the Rheinpfalz school newspaper competition in 2008 and 2nd prize in the Rhineland-Palatinate state competition a year later.
The head of the school is Kerstin Kiehm.
The school takes part in the project School without Racism - School with Courage . Until his death, the godfather was the contemporary witness of National Socialism Alex Deutsch . Today his widow Doris Deutsch takes on this task. The Bibliotheca Bipontina , which belongs to the Rhineland-Palatinate State Library Center, is housed in the same building .
