Life

Yvonne Wigniolle made her debut at the age of 12 at the Parisian revue theater La Cigale and at the age of 13 performed at the famous Folies Bergère . She quickly became a young, talented star of French variety , performing with Maurice Chevalier and Mistinguett .

In 1919 she married the screenwriter and playwright Sacha Guitry , who wrote bespoke roles for Yvonne Printemps. She remained a star on the Parisian stage until her mid-60s and loved to be courted as a diva . She enjoyed the limelight and, even when walking her dogs, wore precious jewelry, furs, and huge hats to amaze her admirers.

Yvonne Printemps died in 1977 in the posh Parisian suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine, where she is also buried with Pierre Fresnay.
