Zachary Leader
Zachary Leader (born December 1, 1946 in New York City ) is an American literary scholar who teaches in England.
Life
Zachary Leader is a son of the film director Anton Leader . He studied literature at Northwestern University , Trinity College, Cambridge and Harvard University , where he received his PhD in 1977.
He initially taught at Harvard , Trinity Hall and Downing College , Cambridge and from 1977 at the University of Roehampton in London , where he became Professor of English Literature.
Leader published Kingsley Amis ' Letters in 2001 and a biography of the poet in 2006. The biography was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 2008 . The first volume of his two-volume biography of Saul Bellow was published in 2015 . Leader is editor of the "Oxford History of Life-Writing", which is laid out in seven volumes.
Leader was a fellow at Guggenheim , the Leverhulme Foundation and the British Academy . He is a member of the Royal Society of Literature .
