Zatyiah "Zat" Knight (born May 2, 1980 in Solihull ) is an English football player . The central defender was most recently under contract with Bolton Wanderers and is currently without a club. In 2005 he completed two international matches for England's senior team .
Athletic career
Fulham FC (1999-2007)
The dark-skinned Englishman played in the youth team of Rushall Olympic and moved to Fulham on February 19, 1999 . Since Knight was as an adult athlete without a contractual commitment, Fulham was not in the obligation to pay a transfer fee; However, the club sent 30 tracksuits to "Olympic" as a "small thank you".
The tall central defender did not play his first competitive games until a year later in the fourth division when Fulham FC loaned him to Peterborough United between February and May 2005 . He played eight championship games there and after his return to West London he came in the league cup for the first time in the professional game of the "Cottagers" in the 2000/01 season . On September 22, 2001, the 1-0 away win against Leicester City Knights followed their first Premier League game. The former U-21 international , who also played two games at the U-21 European Championship in Switzerland in 2002, made his final breakthrough in the 2003/04 season. In the following two seasons he was a top performer in the central defensive network of Fulham FC and scored his first four competitive game goals. After the injury of Luís Boa Morte Knight was also temporarily team captain. In May 2005, he was in two international matches for the English senior team against the USA (2-1) and Colombia (3-2) during a tour of the United States within three days .
Aston Villa (2007-09)
On August 29, 2007, Knight signed a new four-year contract with Aston Villa for a transfer fee of £ 3.5 million . Just hours earlier, Knight had been arrested with his brother and one other person in Birmingham - the brother had to go to prison the following year for a drug offense, while Zat Knight was not charged with any offense. Regardless, Knight scored on his debut for Villa in a 2-0 win over Chelsea on September 2, 2007. In the battle for positions in central defense, Knight found himself exposed to rival Martin Laursen and Curtis Davies , and coach Martin O'Neill performed a steady rotation. Due to an injury to Laursen, Knight's number of games increased a little.
Bolton Wanderers (since 2009)
On July 25, 2009 Knight hired for three years with the Bolton Wanderers . The parties involved kept silent about the amount of the transfer fee, although the English press assumed an amount of around four million pounds. On August 15, 2009 Knight made his debut in Bolton in the 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland AFC .
