ship

The ship was built in 1952 by Remontowa Shipbuilding SA, Gdansk . The Zawisza Czarny has a steel hull and was originally used as a fishing ship. In 1961 the ship was given a general overhaul for the first time. In 1963 it was lengthened by three meters. After it was taken out of service, it was converted into a sailing ship. The ship was equipped with today's three masts and a former submarine engine was installed as a ship diesel .

The rig of the ship is a rarity. The sails on the three masts are rigged as a spreader gaff schooner (wishbone ketch). Today only a few tall ships are equipped with this rig, mostly it is used by smaller sailors.
