Zbigniew Jakubas (born April 25, 1952 ) is a Polish entrepreneur. He is one of the richest Poles. According to an annually updated list of the rich in the Polish edition of Forbes magazine , his fortune amounted to around 325 million euros in 2013.

Life

Jakubas graduated from the Technical University of Częstochowa (Faculty of Electrical Engineering) in 1978. In 1978 and 1979 he worked as a teacher at a vocational school in Warsaw. From 1979 to 1983 he went into business. He emerged as an entrepreneur and manager in his own companies from the mid-1980s. Since the mid-1990s he has been mainly active as an investor. Jakubas was the president of the influential business association Polska Rada Biznesu .

Entrepreneur

From 1979 he built a chain of boutiques in Warsaw. In 1983, along with Krzysztof Sochacki, the entrepreneur was the founder and co-owner of the fashion manufacturer Ipaco . Since then, this company has been offering the contract manufacturing of women's and men's clothing and is also active in export. Over the years she has produced for brands such as Escada , Gai Mattiolo , Hugo Boss , La Mania , Mariella Burani or Vanessa Bruno ( ready-to-wear , casual or sportswear). In the 1990s Jakubas was over Ipaco a stake in the Polish residential magazine Dom & Wnętrze .

From 1989 he acted as managing director of the Multico he founded , today a holding company. He also managed other companies such as Krynica Zdrój and Multico-Press .

investor

Jakubas is the main shareholder of Grupa Kapitałowa Multico . He has been investing on the Polish stock exchange through this holding company since 1999 . The group holds shares in the partially listed stock corporations Mennica Polska SA, Newag SA , Feroco SA, Energopol Południe SA, Energopol Warszawa SA and Polna SA. Ipaco and other companies are now also bundled in the Multico Group.

Shares in the formerly state-owned school book publisher WSiP (Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne SA), Optimus SA, Zakłady Azotowe Puławy , Ponar Wadowice SA and the Warsaw daily Życie Warszawy also belong or belong to him directly or indirectly .

Others

In 2001 Jakubas was awarded the title "Tego, który zmienia polski przemysł" (German: The one who influences Polish industry) from the Polskie Towarzystwo Wspierania Przedsiębiorczości (German: Polish Society for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship).

He co-finances the Jan Kiepura music festival in Krynica-Zdrój .
