The Schepmannsbank colliery in Bochum- Rauendahl is a former hard coal mine . The mine was also known as Zeche Scheppmannsbank , Zeche Schippmannsbank and Zeche Schepmann . The mine was located south of the St. Mathias Erbstollen .
Mining history
The mine was already in operation in 1720. Around 1732 a tunnel was excavated in the seam . In addition, a was tonnlägiger shaft sunk . The shaft had a shallow depth of 38 meters and several basic sections were set up from the shaft . In 1762 the mutation was introduced. On July 6, the year 1765 was carried out ceremony of a length field . The mine was in operation from 1772. In the same year, the coal was delivered to Kleve via the Ruhr and Rhine . In 1775 the mine was called Zeche Schepmann und Nebenbank. In 1792 the mine was entered on the Niemeyersche map . The tunnel, which ran parallel to the St. Mathias Erbstollen, was driven in an easterly direction. The tunnel mouth hole was located in Rauendahl about 200 meters above today's Rauendahlstraße. In 1798, the Jörgen shaft (shaft 4) was mined . In 1800 the Georg shaft (shaft 3) was mined. In 1805, the Antonius shaft was initially dismantled. In April of the same year the mine was closed. The mine was put back into operation around 1842. Since the Schep's cleats twelve Lachter was above the St. Mathias Erbstollens which occurred promotion of the mined coal Erbstollen by St. Mathias. The Schepmannsbank colliery was temporarily owned by the St. Mathias Erbstollen.
