The Urbanus I colliery is a former hard coal mine in Langendreer , Kaltehardt district . The mine was a small mine . This small mine was owned by the Vereinigte Kaliwerke Salzdetfurth. The mine was also known under the names Zeche Urbanus and Zeche Urbanus 1 .

Mining history

In 1951 a shaft for the mine was probably sunk . On January 1st, 1952, the mine was put into operation. The daytime facilities of the mine were located near shaft 7 of the Mansfeld colliery . It was dismantled in a remaining pillar in the sunshine seam . It was dismantled in three places. In addition, a ton-long shaft was operated. The shaft had a deeper depth of 66 meters (+ 42 m above sea ​​level ). On January 1st of the following year the owner of the mine changed and the new owner was the Mansfeld colliery. On October 30, 1962, the mine was stopped and on January 31, 1963 the Urbanus I colliery was closed. The shaft was filled in the course of the year .

Promotion and workforce

The first production workforce figures come from 1953, there were 93 employees on the mine who produced 26,826 tons of hard coal . In 1955, 35,962 tonnes of hard coal were mined, with a workforce of 113 employees. In 1960, 40,067 tons of hard coal were extracted with 53 employees. The maximum production of the mine was achieved in 1961, in which with 74 employees a production of 52,031 tons could be achieved. These are also the last known figures for the mine.
