The colliery Welheim was a coal - mine in Bottrop .

history

The union Mathias Stinnes had in 1863 on the northwestern boundary line of the mining area Mathias Stinnes a mine field as connecting mine muted . This extended under the Welheimer Mark between Bottrop and Gladbeck .

In 1910 the opening of this connecting mine was started. The United Welheim union was founded and the construction of a double shaft system began .

1914 were both shafts with identical German pursuit scaffolding equipped and went to promotion . A coking plant was also attached, but it was shut down after the First World War due to a lack of profitability.

In the 1920s, the mining of Ver. Welheim is quite high with 900,000 tons per year, but the pit field itself was relatively small. Furthermore, due to the close proximity to the Arenberg Collieries , Count Moltke 3/4 and Mathias Stinnes 3/4, there was no expansion.

Closure of the colliery

Therefore, the Mathias Stinnes union decided to connect the Ver. Welheim to the Mathias Stinnes colliery . In 1931, the production at Welheim was discontinued, but the system itself continued to be operated for cable travel and ventilation of the Mathias Stinnes 3/4 mine .

Hydrogenation plant

In 1936/1937 a hydrogenation plant was set up on the mine site to produce synthetic gasoline to supply the air force and the armed forces.

Current condition

The area of the colliery, which is close to Bundesstraße 224 , has been completely built over by an industrial park. No building can be directly assigned to the original mining use.
