Zell is a part of the municipality of Kirchberg im Wald in the Lower Bavarian district of Regen . Until 1976 it formed an independent community.

location

Zell is located in the Bavarian Forest between Kirchberg im Wald and Bischofsmais .

history

The place, probably the founding of a hermit from the time of the beginning of the settlement, came early under the rule of Schlossau and still had patrimonial court and court rights from April 4, 1821 to September 9, 1828 . Dösingerried and Höllmannsried also belonged to this domain. In 1732 the then lord of the castle von Au and March Johann Freiherr von Donnersberg granted his subjects in Zell the right to inherit their property. In 1821 the Reichsrat von Montgelas acquired the March and Zell court brands from the previous owner Alois Freiherr von Hafenbrädl and sold them to the state in 1828. The small district was not spared from the war needs and tradition reports that only one person survived the plague in Zell . In April 1914, a damaging fire burned eight properties.

The former community was created in 1830 by merging the communities of Reichertsried and Zell, which were formed in 1821 . All places have always belonged to the parish of Kirchberg im Wald in pastoral care. The last mayor of the community was Martin Maier, who had been in office since 1960. He resided in a room above the fire station, which served as the community office. The church was built in the mid-1960s, and in 1967 the school was closed despite heated arguments.

Nine years later there was hardly any resistance to the incorporation of Zell to Kirchberg im Wald as part of the regional reform . On November 21, 1975, the local council approved the incorporation agreement. On January 1, 1976, the municipality of Zell was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchberg im Wald. At the time of the dissolution, it had an area of 1852 hectares and 880 inhabitants. Apart from Zell, the districts were Dösingerried, Ebertsried, Reichertsried, Höllmannsried, Dornhof, Gfradert, Kleinloitzenried, Ottenberg, Schleeberg and Voglmühle.
