The Zender Thirty 7 is a sports car study that HA Zender Exklusiv-Auto , manufacturer of body and tuning parts in Mülheim-Kärlich , built and presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1999. Further presentations followed in the same year in Essen and Mexico City and in 2000 in Munich. There was no series production of the car.

history

Hans-Albert Zender founded in 1969 under the name HAZ as a then 23-year-old in his hometown Bassenheim a factory for the production of sporty accessories for automobiles. He did not come from the industry, but was a trained interior decorator. His program initially included bucket seats made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), which he made by hand in the garage of his future wife's house in Koblenz-Rübenach . In addition, other products made of GRP soon followed, such as wider fenders and spoilers, which the fast-growing company produced for around 20 well-known automobile manufacturers, among others. One of Zender's designers was Walter de Silva .

To emphasize the capabilities of his company, Zender built a number of concept vehicles . One of these cars is the two-seater Thirty 7. It was created on the occasion of the company's 30th anniversary and was the seventh study. This explains the model name (30-7).

technology

engine and gears

The Thirty 7 has a water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine from the VW Golf with exhaust gas turbocharger and charge air cooling , two overhead camshafts and five valves per cylinder. The displacement is 1781 cm³ (bore 81 mm, stroke 86.4 mm). The engine develops 230 HP (169 kW) at 5800 rpm and achieves a maximum torque of 340 Nm at 3750 rpm. Together with a five-speed gearbox, it is installed as a mid-engine across the rear axle and seats. The gearbox is shifted with a center lever.

landing gear

The front and rear wheels are suspended from double wishbones with coil springs and stabilizers . The brake discs are perforated and internally ventilated, front diameter 290 mm, rear 282 mm. The handbrake is operated hydraulically like the footbrake with a small lever on the center console. The car has 8.5-inch wide alloy wheels with 215/40 ZR 17 tires at the front and 255/35 ZR 18 tires at the rear.

body

The chassis is a monocoque made of extruded aluminum profiles with two integrated roll bars. The two-seater roadster body is made of GRP. The engine receives the cooling air through two side incisions that run from the middle of the doors and up to the fenders. The front window is remarkably flat. A two-part rearview mirror is attached to the top of the window frame. The dashboard has five round instruments; the floor is paneled with wood.

The Thirty 7 is 3707 mm long, 1720 mm wide and 970 mm high. The curb weight (without driver) is 850 kg. The tank holds 45 liters.

Performance

According to the manufacturer, the top speed is 245 km / h, acceleration from zero to 100 km / h is 5.4 seconds.
