The Central Committee for the Promotion of Youth and folk games was during the game movement , was established on May 21, 1891 merger of the of physical exercises (especially game ) interested persons especially Prussia , but (almost) all the organizations of gymnastics and sports advocated . The board of directors included u. a. Emil von Schenckendorff , Ferdinand August Schmidt , Gustav Konrad Heinrich von Goßler , Carl Philipp Euler , Ernst Kohlrausch . The ZA published the yearbooks for popular and youth games , through which the goals of the association were propagated. The following were proclaimed as common goals:

  • Dissemination / propagation of the popular games
  • Creation of public play / sports fields
  • Provision of the school playgrounds for the game clubs in the afternoon
  • Implementation of play festivals as part of folk festivals
  • Close cooperation with the German Gymnastics Association
  • Emphasis on physical exercise, especially between the end of school and joining the army
  • Implementation of game afternoons in the advanced training schools
  • Game events for the warrior and other veteran clubs
  • Expansion of the games to other clubs (academic gymnastics clubs, commercial clubs, journeyman's clubs, etc.)

From 1894 the ZA also propagated games for girls and women.
