Daniel Mitterdorfer (born July 25, 1989 in Rum ) is a former Austrian professional ice hockey player who has completed over 400 appearances in the highest Austrian ice hockey league and won the Austrian championship three times . He also played over 60 international matches for the Austrian national ice hockey team .
Career
Daniel Mitterdorfer comes from the youth division of HC Innsbruck , for whom he made his debut in the highest Austrian U20 league at the age of 14. When he was only 16, he played his first games in the Austrian ice hockey league in the 2005/06 season . In the 2007/08 season, in addition to his assignments for the HCI, he was also temporarily active for Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho in the highest Finnish junior league. After the end of the 2008 season he left the Tyrolean capital and moved to EC Red Bull Salzburg . With the club he was able to win the Austrian junior championship in 2010, but in the same year and also in 2011 the men's championship title. After these successes, he moved to 2011/12 for EHC Linz . With the team, he immediately won the national championship title again. In December 2011 he was also voted EBEL YoungStar of the Month for December 2011 by the fans of the league . In December 2015 he moved to Lempäälän Kisa in the Mestis , the second highest Finnish division.
In the 2016/17 season Mitterdorfer played again for HC Innsbruck before he ended his career at the age of 28 in July 2017 in order to reorient himself professionally. Mitterdorfer completed a total of 411 appearances including play-offs in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League for HC Innsbruck, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Black Wings Linz. He won the Austrian championship three times. Since August 2017 he has been playing in the amateur area for EHC Kundl in the Tyrolean Elite League .
International
Mitterdorfer played for Austria in the junior division at the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2008 and 2009 , when the team from the Alpine country was promoted to the top division after five years of being second.
He made his debut in the men's national team on November 12, 2010 in a 4-3 win against France in Székesfehérvár, Hungary . His first appearance at a world championship was in Division I of the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championship . There he reached promotion to the top division with the Austrian team, from which he and his team immediately relegated at the 2015 World Cup . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
