The Bundeswehr Information Work Center ( ZInfoABw ) emerged on December 1, 2014 from the former Bundeswehr Academy for Information and Communication .

Under the umbrella of this competence center for information work (press, public relations and media work) of the Bundeswehr, there are five areas at two locations.

Areas

The central area in Strausberg (Brandenburg) on ​​the "Campus Strausberg Bundeswehr" consists of the management, the staff and the headquarters. Since April 1, 2016, the Strausberg care center for civil vocational training and further education (ZAW) in the Barnim barracks has been subordinate to this.

The academy area in Strausberg is now dedicated exclusively to the training and further education of information work and career advice for the Bundeswehr as well as media and communication training for selected members of the Bundeswehr and the Federal Ministry of Defense.

The Bundeswehr editorial department in Berlin-Mitte represents the Bundeswehr publishing house. This is where all of the Bundeswehr media's channels (print, online, social media) are produced in one place.

The Bundeswehr and Society division in Strausberg organizes the Bundeswehr seminars as part of its public relations work. In addition, the youth officers of the Bundeswehr are looked after in their role as mediators for security and defense policy in public.

The further development area in Strausberg is dedicated to trends, analyzes, research support and the review of organization and procedures with regard to the information work of the Bundeswehr. He is professionally tied directly to the press and information staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense .

Library

The center's library is the largest specialized military science library in Germany. It also serves as the Bundeswehr's central archive and storage library. The old stock also includes remains of the Pépinière library .
