Civil professional education and training

The civilian vocational training and further education ( ZAW ) of the Bundeswehr is a further training opportunity for soldiers on time (SaZ) at specialist and master level . Not to be confused with the ZAW for soldiers are the training opportunities for civilian employees of the Bundeswehr.

Content

Temporary soldiers serving longer have the opportunity to receive further training during or after their period of service through the Vocational Promotion Service (BFD). The Bundeswehr offers its soldiers vocational training with a state-recognized qualification through civil vocational training . The final exam is taken at the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry or the Chamber of Crafts . The Bundeswehr either conducts vocational training internally or is provided by civilian training providers. The training takes place with an increased theoretical component, so that the civilian training standard period of three and a half years at the ZAW is reduced to 21 months.

In addition to the qualifications in a training occupation , the Bundeswehr also offers further qualifications as a technician , business economist or at the master's level. The trained journeyman / skilled workers are employed as NCOs , the foremen / specialists as sergeants in the General Service.

In the years 2007 to 2009, a total of 4500 soldiers were appointed as skilled workers and 2775 sergeants were appointed foremen or comparable by the respective professional bodies .
