Șoșdea (outdated: Sorjdea , German: Schoschdea , Waldau , Hungarian: Sósd ) is a village in the Caraș-Severin County , Banat , Romania . The village of Șoșdea belongs to the municipality of Măureni .
Geographical location
Șoșdea is located in the northwest of the Caraș-Severin County, on the border with the Timiș County , on the right Bârzavaufer , about 50 kilometers southeast of Timișoara .

history
Șoșdea was first mentioned in 1369 when the estate was owned by Sosdi Himfi. In the records of the scholar Marsigli (1690-1700) the place belonged to the Bocşa district, Severin district . 1386 the voivode Stefan Sosdi appears in the documents of the time.
On the Josephine land survey of 1717, Schorsda is registered with 100 houses and belongs to the district of Ciacova . In 1776 the village of Schorta appears on the Griselini map, in 1779 Schosdia belonged to the Temes county , Ciacova district, Bârzava district .
In 1909 the estate of the owner Baiersdorf was bought up by the agricultural bank, parceled out and sold to Germans from Liebling , Franzfeld , Butin , Dejan , Făget , Wetschehausen and Kleinschemlak , who founded the Waldau colony . The neighboring villages named the place Baiersdorf after the former landlord. Waldau was the last village in the Banat where Germans were settled. The Romanians called the place Șoșdea-Nouă (Klein-Schoschdea).
In the interwar period, the village belonged to Gătaia , Timiș-Torontal County. Since 1968 Șoșdea belongs to the municipality of Măureni .
