Zhao Bin (born February 1956 in Beijing ) is a Chinese diplomat who has been the ambassador to Austria since August 2012 .

life and career

Zhao Bin was born in the Chinese capital Beijing in February 1956 and is a graduate of the Beijing Foreign Language University and the Second Beijing Foreign Language University , where he studied German . The married father of one son began his diplomatic career in 1983 as an attaché at the embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He appeared from August 1983 to August 1985 as Ambassador Zhang Shu's attaché . Subsequently, he was Attaché and III between 1985 and 1988. Secretary of the Western Europe Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. In the position of III., Later as II., Secretary, he then worked at the Chinese Embassy in Austria from 1988 to 1992. From 1992 he continued to work as second secretary, but was soon appointed as deputy head of unit and first secretary of the Western Europe section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. Between 1995 and 1999 he held the post of consul (first secretary) of the Consulate General of the PR China in Zurich and was then deputy head of the Western Europe section of the foreign ministry in his home country from 1999 to 2000. His longest activity so far was from 2000 to 2010 as Counselor and Counselor-Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Federal Republic of Germany . He later acted as a diplomatic reinforcement for the Expo 2010 , from 2010 to 2012 as Deputy General Director of the Office for Foreign Affairs of the City of Shanghai , before he was finally appointed Chinese Ambassador to Austria in August 2012. The office of the Chinese ambassador became vacant after the Chinese ambassador in Berlin , Wu Hongbo , was appointed UN Vice Secretary-General to New York in July 2012 and Perking filled this gap with the previous ambassador to Austria, Shi Mingde , at short notice . This vacated position was eventually held by Zhao Bin. In his spare time, Zhao Bin works as a photographer, and as a member of the Chinese Photographers Association, he has already won prizes at the “Diplomats See the World” exhibitions.
