The Zhelannaya Mountain ( Russian Гора Желанная Gora Schelannaja , German “Mountain of Longing” ) is an isolated mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Russkiye Mountains it rises 17.5 km north of Mount Karpinskiy .
Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition , who also named it, discovered and mapped it in 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the Russian name into English in 1971.
