Mount Karpinskiy ( Russian Гора Карпинского Gora Karpinskowo ) is an isolated mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Russkiye Mountains it rises 17.5 km south of the Zhelannaya Mountain .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition discovered and mapped it in 1959. It is named after the Russian geologist Alexander Petrovich Karpinsky (1847–1936), President of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the Russian designation into English in 1971.
