Li Zhi Cong

Li Zhi Cong , also known as Peter Li , ( Chinese  黎智聰  /  黎智聪 , Pinyin Lí Zhìcōng ; born August 25, 1993 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese automobile racing driver . He started in the European Formula 3 championship in 2015 and 2016 .

Career

Li began his motorsport career in formula racing in 2009 . For the PTRS team he finished sixth in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge. He also took part in two races in the Australian Formula 3 championship . In 2010 Li stayed with PTRS in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge. He won a race and improved to fifth in the championship. He also made a guest appearance in the Pacific Formula BMW . In 2011 Li switched to the Asia Racing Team . He reached sixth place in the Formula Pilota China and also took part in four races in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge. In 2012 Li drove for the Asia Racing Team in the GT Asia Series . With three wins, he finished the season in second place in the championship. In addition, he drove for the racing team again in races of the Asian Formula Renault Challenge, where he managed a victory.

In 2013 Li drove for various teams in Asian touring car and GT series. He finished fourth in the GT Asia Series, tenth in the China Super Production Car Class and eleventh in the Asian Porsche Carrera Cup . In 2013 , Li also took part in a racing weekend in the British Formula 3 Championship for Carlin . In 2014 Li competed for Carlin in all races in the British Formula 3 Championship. Three third places were his best results. He reached fifth place in the overall standings. He also took part in two races in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge and in one race in the Asian Porsche Carrera Cup.

In 2015 Li moved to Fortec Motorsports in the European Formula 3 championship . He skipped four events. Two 18th places were his best results. For the European Formula 3 championship in 2016 , Li received a cockpit from Carlin. During the first race in Spielberg , the fourth event of the season, Li was involved in a serious accident. He hit his teammate Ryan Tveter , who had spun , at high speed . Li's car took off and flew several meters through the air into the gravel bed. Li was flown to the hospital by helicopter. He suffered four fractures of the vertebrae and several fractures in one foot. He was out injured for the rest of the season. Twelfth place was his best result.
